Center for Magnetic Fusion Theory Chooses Runaway Dynamics as Its annual Theme

The Center for Magnetic Fusion Theory (CMFT)  has chosen “Runaway Dynamics in Tokamaks” as its annual theme for study for this year. The program will run from July, 2014 to June, 2015. During this period, CMFT will host a series of activities, including workshops and tutorial lectures.

The annual program also includes fellowships for short term visit to the EAST tokamak (http://english.ipp.cas.cn/) and University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Interested researchers should send their requests to Ms. Dan Zhao at zhaodan@ipp.ac.cn.

中科院磁约束聚变理论中心青年研讨会成功举办

                 中科院磁约束聚变理论中心青年研讨会在我所成功举办

       2011年5月3日至6日中科院磁约束聚变理论中心青年研讨会成功举办。来自美

国普林斯顿大学、清华大学、北京大学、四川大学、中国科学技术大学、华东理工

大学以及中科院等离子体所等单位的四十多名青年学者参加了本次研讨会。会议共

安排了21场口头报告,内容涵盖了等离子体物理和磁约束聚变理论研究的众多领

域。

此次会议强调“交流、合作、创新”的主题,旨在促进磁约束聚变等离子体理论研

究的发展,增进青年学者在此领域的交流,活跃学术思想,加强同行间的合作,研

讨磁约束聚变理论的基本问题和热点课题。 会议首日,等离子体物理研究所李建刚

所长亲临会场对与会者的到来表示热烈的欢迎,中心主任秦宏就研讨会的目的宗旨

作了简要介绍。随后,李建刚所长作了首场报告。他从实验物理学家的角度出发,

围绕着“什么是最好的聚变理论工作”的主题,讲述了目前聚变领域中理论工作的重

要性,为理论工作的发展方向提供了建设性的意见。中心主任秦宏就“几何动力学及

在等离子提物理上的应用”作了精彩报告。

在三天的会议中,青年学者们就波加热和电流驱动、流与动量传输、湍流输运与

高约束模、聚变等离子体集成模拟和大规模并行计算以及基础等离子体物理理论和

先进算法等前沿领域研究进展作了精彩报告。整个会议气氛热烈,讨论活跃。 会议

最后,参会客人在等离子体物理所科普志愿者侍行健和甘春芸的带领下饶有兴趣地

参加“EAST” 托卡马克实验装置,就怎样密切理论与实验的联系等问题进行了交流

探讨。

通过此次会议的交流,青年学者吸取了同行的建议、批评,扩大了视野,开拓了

研究工作的新思路。
